Reading this book was a different experience for me because I didn't really read it, I listened to it via digital audiobook from the library. It was the only way I could check it out so I went for it. It was kind of fun. I don't think I've listened to a book on tape since, well since there were tapes! I enjoyed the story, and it was full of action, tension and very tough decisions for June's character. I'd recommend it for fans of the Hunger Games. Not quite as dramatic, but in some ways eerier, because the world isn't so very far from our own.

I've only listened to recorded books twice. Although I enjoyed them to begin with, once I really got into the story, I had to get a print copy. I just felt like I was missing out by not seeing the words on the page.
ReplyDeleteI totally know how you feel! I've been listening to more audiobooks recently, partially just because of what's available digitally at my library. There are definitely pros and cons. I love that I can listen while doing other tasks, and that I can listen without getting into beta-reader mode. But it's sooo much slower and I feel like the filter of the reader is shifting the way I'm "seeing" the story through their voice. For my favorites, I'm definitely going to buy and re-read on Kindle.
