Ready Set Write 2015

This year, I'm participating in Ready. Set. Write!

It's a summer writing intensive for goal-setting, accountability, and an opportunity to cheer each other on as we work toward our writing goals!

A huge thank you to Jaime Morrow, Katy Upperman, Erin Funk, Elodie Nowodazkij, and Alison Miller for hosting!

This Week's Goals:

1. Finish new scenes for Chapters 1-5 of YA sci-fi
2. Read one "fun" book
3. Read one "research" book
4. Post reviews of the last five novels I've read
4. Plan edits for Chapters 6-15 of YA sci-fi

Overall Summer Goals:
In early summer, I'll mostly be working on edits to FARLIGHT- my YA sci-fi. Once those are done, I can turn my attention to AVA OF THE ISLAND - my MG contemp.

1. Finish YA sci-fi edits!
2. Write 1500 words 3 days a week [ babysitter days ;) ]
3. Write 250 words 2 days a week
4. Read 15 books (at least 5 classic sci-fi and 5 debut authors from 2015)
5. Write synopses for the subsequent books in my YA sci-fi series

  1. Glad you could join us for RSW this summer! I just read the description for FARLIGHT and it sounds awesome! Best of luck with your goals this week, especially finishing those new scenes! :)

  2. Read one "fun" book... that's something that people often forget to allow themselves in these challenges. Time for some fun. Good for you, Carissa

  3. Your overall summer goals are more focused on what you should accomplish week-to-week, in a routine, and I think that's great for success! I like your reading balance this week for one fun book and one research book. Good luck this week & all summer, Carissa!

  4. I give you high kudos for your goals wow for reading and writing. I have some reviews to work on as well.

  5. Good luck on your summer goals! I like how organized and exact your goals are.

  6. Awesome, goals, Carissa! I'm so happy you're joining us this summer. I bet you'll get tons done. Can't wait to hear about your successes!

  7. I like your reading goals! I don't read a lot of sci-fi (I tend to get confused by any mention of space and/or technology lol), but I always try to read at least one or two in that genre each year.

    Good luck this summer!

  8. Good luck on your goals this week/this summer! I just Twitter-stalked you and my kid is 18 months old, too! I think we should be BFFs. <3

  9. I love the goal of reading one "fun" book alongside research and writing. Your overall goals sound like they're setting some brilliant habits too. :) Good luck with the rest of this week! :)

  10. Oooh good luck this summer! Ava of the Island is a title I'd pick up immediately to check out--such a lovely ring to it!

  11. Looking forward to your book reviews, I'm looking for some new "Fun" books to read!
Good luck on meeting your goals!

  12. Great goals, I need to start posting reviews again I might make that a goal for next week :)

  13. Those are some excellent goals, i totally didn't think to add reading goals (which now seems silly :P) Good luck with your edits.
