Book Recommendation: Under the Never Sky

Under the Never Sky, Veronica RossiVeronica Rossi
Pages: 384
Ages: 14+

Aria is from Reverie, a protected, self-supporting city. She spends most of her time with the other genetically perfected Dwellers in the safety of "The Realms" - virtual worlds accessed via smarteye. Perry is an outsider, to Aria, he's a Savage. But when she's exiled from Reverie, he may be the only thing standing between her life and death. Meanwhile she may be the key to finding his kidnapped nephew. It's not love at first sight, but they need each other, and together they'll uncover a dark secret that threatens to change everything they've known about their segregated worlds.

I need to read this book again. Rossi's debut was beautifully written,  the story fast-paced, and the world-building complex. Told in alternating perspectives, Aria's and Perry's, the characters are well developed and likable, but in a complex, and real, and prickly way. The story leaves you with just enough to be satisfied, but at the same time barely scratches the surface of the underlying story. Rossi is an excellent writer, and I can't wait for the sequel to see what happens to Perry and Aria and what fate awaits the Dwellers.
